LILAC
Book, Music, & Lyrics by Bailey Baker & Jack B. Murphy
This is the story of Matt, a young novelist, his workaholic boyfriend, John, and the power of writing at a time where every word matters.
LILAC began as two songs in a short musical piece which premiered as part of a new musical festival produced by Playwrights Performance Group at Shenandoah Conservatory. It was later expanded into a full-length musical which was then workshopped as part of Shenandoah’s inaugural Student Performance Week (now ShencoLAB) and presented in the culminating Festival of Arts, Ideas, and Exploration in the Fall of 2018. In March of 2019, Lilac was presented as a public staged reading at the Winchester, Virginia Bright Box Theatre for two sold out performances.
